About me
I have been an educator for 25 years, and still love it as much as I did the year I started. I started my career as a high school math teacher, and after more than ten years in the classroom I became an instruction coach. Originally, this shift out of the classroom was short term so I could finish my Master's in Counseling; however, I discovered that I had a passion for working with teachers and never went back to the classroom. Over the course of my time as an instructional coach, I have been honored and privileged to work with teachers at the high school and middle school level as well as teachers from a variety of contents including Math, Social Studies, English, and Science. My belief is that education can be transformed by building an understanding of growth mindset in ourselves and our students, and by working in Professional Learning Communities. The past two years I have also been involved with the Outdoor Learning Team in Albuquerque Public Schools and have been able to combine my passion for the outdoors with my desire to improve student learning.
Personally, I love being on an adventure. Whether it's a quick weekend trip to a New Mexico hot spot, a trek to a National Park in our travel trailer, or a trip across the country, my family and I love to be on the go. I have two beautiful children 14 and 9 and have been happily married for almost 20 years. I love making cupcakes, watching my kids swim in swim meets, and hanging out in the backyard with friends and family.
