About me
Trissa McCabe has taught middle school math for 30 years. She is currently an 8th grade mathematics teacher at Reno Valley Middle School in Hutchinson, KS. Starting in 2020, using the MidSchool Math Core Curriculum and then a year later implementing the strategies of Building Thinking Classrooms, she has seen test scores and grades improve in the last five years. In 2015, Trissa received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. That same year, she was the lead math writer for the Higher Achievement Social Justice Curriculum. Currently, Trissa serves on her Building Leadership Team and has been a cooperating teacher for six student teachers. Trissa continues to perfect her craft by creating engaging lessons and just recently by focusing on the Visible Learning components to help increase her student learning. She and her husband have raised two boys in rural Kansas and have a grumpy Basset Hound named Murdock. In her spare time, Trissa likes to read, write poetry, and spend time outdoors either walking or gardening.
