About me
Evalena Leitz was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and now serves as Gresham-Barlow School District’s Secondary Math Coach specializing in curriculum and instruction. She taught math for 16 years, including time as a Title I Math Specialist. She has served her state department of education in several roles including the ODE 2021 math standards review, instructional materials evaluation tool and pre-calculus curriculum review committees. On a career segway, Evalena also taught Preschool and Kinder at a bilingual IB school in Costa Rica. She has developed and led previous professional development around the topics of equitable grading, growth mindset, multilingual learners, using worked examples to scaffold instruction as well as designed and learning opportunities for teachers to develop and grow in instructional best practices specific to mathematics.
