About me
After starting her teaching career teaching 5th grade on the Zuni reservation, Erin relocated to join the founding staff of Atlas Preparatory School, an independent charter school serving Southeast Colorado Springs. In her many years as a middle school math teacher there she transformed her teaching from a traditional, direct-instruction model to a problem-based learning environment driven by student voice. Erin also led curriculum adoption and alignment work as a K-12 Curriculum Lead, developed teacher training and materials for school-wide intervention on flexible math reasoning, and was a 2023 Colorado finalist for the PAEMST award. While Erin transitioned out of classroom teaching in 2024, she is finishing her MA in Teaching Mathematics through Mt Holyoke College and now works to support teachers and schools with improving math instruction through her consulting business, Roots and Wings Math.
